| Okita was waitress at the Naniwa-ya, a teahouse located near the Nio-mon Gate in the groups of the Asakusa Kannon Temple. Along with the Ohisa and Toyohina, she was reputed to be one of the Three Beauties of the Kansei era (1789-1801). Okita's fresh charm in this print seems to reflect the art of Utamaro in his youthful years. |
