The Ukiyo-e is printed on Echizen kizuki hosho washi (a unique kind of Japanese paper) handmade by Ichibei Iwano, a living national treasure. This makes the vivid colors and the soft, warm textures of woodcut prints come to life.
A horse with three passengers in a balanced saddle, led by a man, are going along the zigzag road, which is elevated slightly and bordered by pine trees. To the left, the cone of Mt. Fuji appears, reddish brown in a yellowing sky. To the right, grey peaks of other mountains. A later version of the print has the title written across Fuji, and no signature.
