The Ukiyo-e is printed on Echizen kizuki hosho washi (a unique kind of Japanese paper) handmade by Ichibei Iwano, a living national treasure. This makes the vivid colors and the soft, warm textures of woodcut prints come to life.
Also known as "Black Fuji", this print shows the familiar snow-capped peak of Mt. Fuji dramatically rising above rain clouds and lightning. The extreme beauty of this print is accentuated by the absence of any superflous detail. One of the foremost masterpieces of all the Ukiyo-e landscape compositions.
