Kitagawa Utamaro Six Famous Beauties
Okita was a waitress at the Naniwaya, teahouse located near the Niomon Gate in the grounds of the Asakusa Kannon Temple. Along with Ohisa and Toyohina, she was reputed to be one of the Three Beauties of the Kansei era(1789-1801). Okita's fresh charm in this print in this print seems to reflect the art of Utamaro in his youthful years.
